About The Position

Adjunct faculty are essential to providing a quality academic experience for Indiana Wesleyan University students. Visual Arts Education adjunct faculty will employ a range of engaging teaching strategies designed to foster student learning and stimulate class discussion. Applicants must have visual arts content knowledge and art-specific pedagogical experience, demonstrate a passion for teaching and learning and be able to integrate their Christian faith into the classroom content.

Requirements

  • According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.
  • Degree in Education
  • Significant P-12 Visual Arts classroom teaching experience
  • Commitment to teaching excellence within a Christ-centered academic community
  • Mature personal faith in Jesus Christ and willingness to embrace the theological and lifestyle commitments of the Wesleyan Church

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Certified educator
  • Prior undergraduate teaching experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Attend and lead all required class sessions
  • Promptly assess student coursework and submit via Brightspace (the university’s learning management system)
  • Coordinate with Division Chair and/or Academic Dean regarding classroom or student issues in a timely manner
