About The Position

Specific responsibilities include teaching undergraduates in general design – fashion, merchandising, interiors and design core area of expertise. Adjunct faculty are expected to teach lecture and studio for the course that is assigned, along with classroom management including preparation of lecture, supervision of students in studio, writing assignments, and grading assignments. Adjunct faculty hold appointments, as defined by their letter of appointment, without eligibility for tenure; where authorized by the Dean, adjunct appointments may be renewed. Adjunct faculty appointments do not guarantee a course assignment.

Requirements

  • All faculty must have at least a Master’s degree in the field/discipline in which they are teaching with 18 hours of course work related to the course(s) being taught.
  • In some cases, subject to the approval by the Provost, a faculty member could be recommended for appointment based on substitution of significant experience for the degree.
  • Adjunct faculty must hold an advanced degree or equivalent credentials based on experience consistent with accreditation criteria of the discipline and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools ( SACS ).

  • The applicant must have a masters degree in design or an appropriate field related for the specific class they will be teaching.
