This course provides a survey of cybersecurity principles, practices, and strategies essential for leaders and managers to become strategic partners in establishing, managing, and governing an enterprise's cybersecurity program. The goal is to foster an understanding of how cybersecurity supports key business objectives and to develop the soft skills necessary for leadership or managerial roles. Topics covered include cybersecurity fundamentals, enterprise IT governance, security controls, data security, information life cycle, intellectual property protections, privacy laws and regulations, security education, training, and awareness, and the importance of cooperation between business units and the cybersecurity program. UMGC is a mission-driven institution, one of 12 degree-granting institutions in the University System of Maryland, serving 90,000 students globally. It is a 24-hour institution committed to adult learners, with a significant portion being active-duty service members, reservists, National Guard members, veterans, and family members. The adjunct faculty role involves actively engaging students, guiding collaboration, providing constructive feedback, demonstrating subject-matter expertise, and contributing to curricular improvements. New faculty are required to complete a two-week online new faculty orientation.
