About The Position

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) at Elmhurst University in the greater Chicago area invites applications to join the pool of part-time (adjunct) faculty. Potential courses to teach include: Linguistics Related to Speech, Language, and Hearing Language Development and Disorders Language and Literacy in Young Children: Assessment and Treatment (graduate level) Bilingual Assessment in Public School Settings (graduate level)

Requirements

  • An earned master’s or doctoral (preferred) degree in communication sciences and disorders, speech-language pathology.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with CSD faculty, staff and students.
  • Commitment to excellence in teaching with a commitment to creating an inclusive learning environment for a diverse student body.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in college-level teaching in communication sciences and disorders.
  • CCC-SLP or CCC-A certification.
  • Doctoral degree in communication sciences and disorders, audiology or closely related field preferred.
  • Clinical experience in speech-language pathology, audiology or deaf education.
  • Teaching and/or clinical experience related to the subject area is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares course syllabi for assigned course based on approved course description.
  • Holds regular class meetings that promote active learning and student engagement.
  • Creates and administers learning activities; assigns grades based on clear requirements.
  • Is available for student questions.
  • Follows University and departmental policies.
  • Supports the mission, vision, and values of Elmhurst University.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
