About The Position

The Associate Additive Manufacturing Technician (Assoc. AM Tech) is a technical position that will be involved with assisting in the day-to-day operations and maintenance of a variety of 3D printing equipment and 3D processes, including but not limited to resin-based printers (SLA), FDM/ FFF printers, Polyjet printers, and any additional AM technologies that occur. The role includes extensive training and hands-on experience to develop expertise in 3D printing technologies. There are additional opportunities to gain knowledge in CAD manipulation, manual machining, and assisting with prototype builds via AM technology processes.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • 0 - 2 years relevant experience

  • Basic blueprint reading.
  • Ability to travel 25%.

Nice To Haves

  • Any prior experience with 3D printing technologies, particularly resin-based and filament-based printers, is a plus.
  • Associate's degree or certification in Additive Manufacturing, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Basic understanding of CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
  • Experience in a prototyping or manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with CNC equipment and G-code programming.

Responsibilities

  • Processing, updating, and maintaining 3D print requests that are assigned through the project tracking software.
  • Prepare and slice files for 3D printing, ensuring optimal settings for quality and efficiency.
  • Utilize CAD software to modify or create designs for prototyping and production as necessary.
  • Assisting in the operations of the 3D printing equipment: resin-based, filament-based, and polyjet printers.
  • Post-processing tasks such as part washing / cleaning, support removal, and secondary surface finishing.
  • Perform routine maintenance and upkeep of the 3D equipment.
  • Conduct quality control checks on printed parts to ensure they meet specified standards and requirements.
  • Conduct routine calibration of additive manufacturing equipment to ensure optimal performance, including tracking and logging the test/calibration samples.
  • Help maintain the organization and cleanliness of the AM Room and equipment.
  • Maintaining, tracking, and ordering material and inventory.
  • Adhere to safety standards and protocols while operating equipment and handling materials.
  • Attending training sessions, workshops, seminars, online courses, tradeshows, or conventions to gain additional knowledge in AM technologies and processes.
  • Learn and assist with secondary machining operations to expand prototyping capabilities.
