Requirements

  • A degree Engineering or related field is required.
  • A degree from an ABET accredited institution preferred.
  • Typically, educational requirements are the equivalent of a Ph.D. with a minimum 9 years of experience; Masters with at least 13 years of experience, or a BS with at least 15 years of experience.
  • Previous experience in either metallic or nonmetallic additive manufacturing (AM).
  • Proficiency in CAD modeling software (preferably ProEngineer) and its application to AM.
  • Must understand design-for-additive considerations/challenges and be able to communicate those to product designers.
  • The ability to be "hands-on" and to communicate and work well with others.
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of in-situ monitoring processes.
  • Ability to create generative designs for additive parts.
  • Demonstrated leadership and innovation in the field of AM.
  • Project management experience is highly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Perform, document and report microstructural analysis of manufactured aerospace hardware and witness test coupons.
  • Develop a metallurgical understanding of metals processed by casting, forging, welding, selective laser melting, directed energy deposition, and hot isostatic pressing for the determination of comparative relationships.
