About The Position

Engineering’s Licensing and Certification Section provides staff support to the Code Officials Qualification Board and the Home Inspector Licensure Board. Staff supports the Boards by providing general Board administration, processing applications, reviewing/approving/denying licenses and certifications or pre-certifications, administering examinations, creating educational courses, approving/denying external education including instructors, and investigating allegations against licensees. This position is primarily responsible for the management for processing and issuance of all licenses and certifications for the Code Officials Qualification Board and the Home Inspector Licensure Board including staff that performs such duties on its behalf.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and three (3) years of program experience related to the area of assignment, including one year of supervisory program experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated experience working as staff or staff support for a Licensing or Certification Board in NC
  • Demonstrated experience with licensing and certification databases
  • Ability to drive a state vehicle for logistics during SERT operations and holds a valid driver license
  • 1 year of experience with SERT process
