About The Position

Accounts Payable Supervisor - Stony Brook CPMP Finance Location: Stony Brook, NY Schedule: Full time Days/Hours: Monday - Friday; 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM Salary: $115,000 Our compensation philosophy aims to provide marketable compensation programs and to compensate employees based on relevant experience and education. The above salary range (or hiring range) represents Stony Brook CPMP’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting Responsibilities SUMMARY: This position reports to the Director of Accounting and Tax and responsibilities include but are not limited to: oversee daily accounting operations and ensure the accuracy, integrity and timeliness of financial reporting. The role supervisors Staff Accountants, supports month-end as well as year-end close processes, ensures compliance and assists upper management as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree. In lieu of degree, 2 additional years of accounting experience.
  • 3 years of accounting experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to make independent decisions and think critically.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Knowledge of Accounting Software.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Excel.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA, MBA or master’s in accounting.
  • Prior supervisory experience in an academic healthcare organization.
  • Knowledge of a business intelligence system.
  • Experience in artificial intelligence.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and review work completed by the accounting staff.
  • Assists in the month end close including the production of accurate and timely financial statements.
  • Review journal entries, account reconciliations and financial statements.
  • Communicate and work with clinical department administrators, central administration and other management within the organization to ensure timely preparation and submission of financial reports.
  • Create and maintain schedules surrounding new lease accounting pronouncement.
  • Monitor internal controls and recommend improvements
  • Produce supporting schedules for annual audits, tax filings, payroll filings and other special filings as needed.
  • Perform other general accounting, reporting duties or special projects as needed.
