About The Position

Distinguished is a leading national insurance Program Manager providing specialized insurance programs to brokers and agents with specific expertise in Real Estate, Community Associations, Hospitality, Fine Art/Collectibles, Executive Lines, Environmental, Surety, Restaurants, and more. Distinguished partners with a select group of highly rated insurance companies to provide exclusive programs to our national network of 4,000 agencies and brokerages. We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Specialist with hands-on accounting support experience to join our team in Midtown. The ideal candidate has strong skills in payroll administration, bank reconciliations, basic general ledger work, and Excel. Familiarity with Workday is a plus. You will be essential in supporting daily accounting operations and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in an accounting support or clerical role
  • Hands-on payroll processing experience required
  • Strong experience with bank reconciliations and basic GL work
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (sorting, filtering, formulas, VLOOKUP preferred)
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism
  • Experience with Workday or other modern ERP systems

Responsibilities

  • Process employee payroll on a regular schedule, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies
  • Maintain employee payroll records, deductions, and timekeeping information
  • Coordinate with HR and management to resolve payroll discrepancies
  • Prepare and complete monthly bank reconciliations for multiple accounts
  • Investigate and resolve reconciling items promptly
  • Maintain proper documentation and follow-up procedures
  • Assist with posting journal entries and maintaining basic general ledger activity
  • Support month-end close processes by gathering documentation and preparing reconciliations
  • Maintain organized and audit-ready accounting records.
  • Support invoice processing, vendor entry, and payment runs
  • Assist with customer billing, collections, and cash application
  • Ensure accuracy and timely processing of transactions
  • Assist with ad hoc reporting or administrative tasks as needed
