About The Position

This is an exempt salaried position responsible for processing payroll, deductions from wages or other earnings statements & updating payroll records regularly. They are responsible for balancing the payroll budget and documenting all transactions related to an employee’s wages, including any payments or credits for commission, bonuses, tips and hourly pay.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of accounting systems, the generally accepted accounting principles, and QuickBooks
  • Knowledge of complex payroll practices and wage/hour laws, including tax filing and other financial responsibilities.
  • Accurate data entry skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with both internal and external customers.
  • Ability to examine documents for accuracy and completeness.
  • Ability to understand and interpret policies and regulations.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll software.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of financial matters.
  • Ability to ensure compliance with deadlines.
  • Completion of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • General knowledge of payroll processing and accounts payable processes.
  • Three years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping with at least six months of experience in payroll preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Some accounting courses a plus but not required.
  • Preferred certification or degree in accounting or finance.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in posting/reconciling information to general ledger and monthly bank statements.
  • Assists with processing accounts payable invoices.
  • Processing of payroll and maintaining payroll information by collating, calculating and entering data
  • Updating payroll records by entering any changes to employee information or benefits such as job title changes, exemptions and saving deductions
  • Preparing reports that include summaries of earnings, tax deductions, leave, compassionate leave and non-taxable wages
  • Calculating payroll liabilities by determining employee taxes, including federal and state income, social security tax, wage garnishments, and calculating employer’s payments for social security, unemployment and worker’s compensation.
  • Resolving payroll discrepancies and answering any employee payroll queries
  • Maintaining all payroll operations according to company policies and procedures
  • Processing and issuing W-2 forms to employees
  • Skill in interpreting and analyzing payroll data and comprehensive accounting reports.
  • Performs reconciliations of payroll information and accounting information for budgetary purposes.
  • Knowledge of complex payroll practices and wage/hour laws, including tax filing and other financial responsibilities.
  • Generate reports from databases to disseminate information to internal departments and external entities as required.
  • Assist with month end close/reconciliation/journal entries
  • Answer employees’ questions or concerns regarding issues with payroll
  • Assists with supply ordering for all offices
  • Assists with property management issues for all offices
