The Accounting Specialist is responsible for performing Accounting and Finance duties in support of the OCVIBE development team. The position will work collaboratively with outside consultants, general contractors, and our shared services team. The Accounting Specialist will provide accurate and timely information to the OCVIBE development team and play an important role in the day-to-day accounting operations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent / Associates Degree, preferred
  • 2-4 years of experience in accounting, preferably in construction or development environment
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Self-motivated, able to learn on their own, and work independently towards a deadline
  • Comfortable in fast paced environment
  • This position is on-site.

Nice To Haves

  • Yardi Construction software experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Review and audit all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval before entering data
  • Review construction payment applications for accuracy and approval before entering data
  • Review and maintain construction lien waivers schedule
  • Research department questions and vendor statements and follow up with any discrepancies
  • Process weekly payments and set approvals to ensure timely delivery of payments
  • Maintain all accounts payable reports, spreadsheet, and files
  • Prepare loan draw packages for submittal to funding entities
  • Prepare, print, and mail annual 1099s
  • Prepare CIP schedules and supporting detail, with reconciliation and capitalization conclusions reviewed and approved by the Staff Accountant/Manager
  • Perform other special projects and ad hoc reporting as needed
