JOB SUMMARY:

Please note that this position will work in a hybrid environment.

The Arizona Public Safety Personnel Retirement System (PSPRS) is currently
seeking qualified candidates for the position of Accounting Specialist 2. The
accounting specialist 2 provides entry to mid level support for PSPRS's
financial operations. Under the supervision of the accounting manager, this
position handles routine to moderately complex accounts-payable/receivable,
payroll, and ledger activities, ensuring accuracy and timely processing of
system related transactions.

This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon
the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance
measures.

Requirements

• Principles, methods and practices of fiscal and financial record keeping, including automated accounting systems.
• Understand, interpret and apply fundamental principles of accounting.
• Government fiscal record keeping practices.
• Accurate data entry and numeric calculations.
• Audit invoices and verify supporting documents.
• Proficiency with Office 365.
• Clear written and oral communication.
• Take directions and implement as requested.
• Maintain attention to detail in a high-volume environment.
• Maintain ledgers and journals.
• Analyze fiscal data.
• Learn new finance and pension administration systems.

Responsibilities

• Assist in receiving, auditing and posting vendor invoices, verifying amounts against contracts and budget codes.
• Resolve routine discrepancies.
• Assist in preparing and posting journal entries for routine reimbursements, reconcile ledgers.
• Assist in the review monthly billing statements; reconcile billing records with payment receipts; flag any variances for supervisory review.
• Maintain organized electronic and/or paper files for all financial documents in compliance with retention policies.
• Handle mailings, filing, and routine correspondence related to financial matters.
• Respond to routine inquiries.
