About The Position

As the Accounting Senior Analyst , you’ll be a key member of the corporate accounting team supporting Best Buy’s equity activities such as stock-based compensation, earnings per share, and the statement of changes in shareholders’ equity. This team is also involved in preparing the related financial statement disclosures within the Company’s 10-Q and 10-K filings as well as researching the accounting treatment for new and evolving transactions within the equity space. The role provides great opportunity for personal growth and development as it offers a broad range of responsibilities and visibility to many layers of the management team. Specifically, this role has the potential to partner and collaborate with our teams in Treasury, Legal, Tax, Management Reporting, External Reporting, International Controllership, and Domestic Controllership. This role is remote eligible, which means you would work virtually from home or another non-Best Buy location.

Requirements

1.5 years of experience in a technical accounting role (public accounting or industry)
1.5 years of experience researching complex accounting questions and documenting conclusions in written memos
Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a similar degree
3 years of direct accounting experience in the following accounting area(s): Equity (ASC 505) Earnings Per Share (ASC 260) Stock Compensation (ASC 718)
3 years of experience preparing the below for public company SEC filings: Statement of Changes in Shareholders Equity Earnings Per Share (basic and diluted)
3 years of experience researching complex accounting questions and documenting conclusions in written memos
3 years of experience using an ERP system for journal entry postings, balance sheet reconciliations, and GL transaction reporting
3 years of experience executing and maintaining SOX internal controls with an ability to identify and address weaknesses in controls

Responsibilities

Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and perform financial analyses related to the following areas: Stock-based compensation, earnings per share, and all other equity-related transactions (e.g. share repurchases, dividends, etc.)
Compile and review various financial reporting schedules used for our external filings (10-Q/Ks, Press Releases)
Support internal control processes, audit findings and key accounting determinations by partnering with internal audit & external reporting.
Determine and implement process improvements and/or automation to streamline processes for efficiency.
Work with the team to research accounting guidance on complex transactions, including determining the proper accounting treatment and drafting accounting positions memos.
