Ballard Truck Center is Worcester is seeking an Accounting Operations Specialist to provide hands-on accounting and operational support to the Chief Financial Officer within a multi-location dealership group. This role is responsible for executing key accounting processes with accuracy, consistency, and discretion, while identifying and addressing discrepancies or irregularities to help maintain the integrity of financial information across multiple locations. This position reports directly to the CFO and offers the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the accuracy and consistency of financial operations within a growing organization. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, and detail-oriented—someone who values structure, takes ownership of assigned responsibilities, and demonstrates sound judgment when reviewing financial data within established accounting and internal control processes. This is a full-time in office position in our Worcester, MA location. The schedule is Monday through Friday, standard business hours. Occasional overtime may be required at month end.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years of accounting experience
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Teams
  • Demonstrated accuracy, organization, and attention to detail
  • Proven ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion
  • Ability to work independently within established processes and meet deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a dealership or multi-location business environment
  • Familiarity with CDK or similar dealership management systems
  • Proficiency with Microsoft SharePoint
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to identify and research issues

Responsibilities

  • Support and execute assigned components of the month-end close process
  • Prepare and post journal entries accurately and in a timely manner
  • Prepare and review accounting schedules and bank reconciliations
  • Assist in preparing internal financial statements and management reports
  • Prepare and file sales tax returns
  • Allocate and record benefit and insurance-related expenses with strict confidentiality
  • Research accounting issues or variances, identify unusual trends or discrepancies, and summarize findings
  • Process and review select customer invoices, vendor credits, OEM transactions, and vendor payments
  • Prepare ad hoc financial reports and summaries
  • Provide backup support to Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable as needed
  • Support audits and external reporting requests
