About The Position

This full-time permanent position is located in Los Angeles and is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule for employees who have passed their probationary period and can satisfactorily perform their essential work functions independently and remotely as determined by management. Specific telework schedules may be discussed further during the hiring process. CAAM is seeking to fill the role of an Accounting Officer (Specialist). Under general supervision of the Fiscal Officer, the Accounting Officer (Specialist) has the responsibility of performing accounting and administrative duties in management of fiscal records including contracting, cash management, travel, payroll, and accounting procedures through the Financial Information System for California also known as FI$Cal in the areas of accounting, and cash management. The Accounting Officer performs complex accounting functions, including ensuring timely and accurate processing of payments, maintaining financial records, monitoring state credit card activity and supporting compliance with state fiscal policies. This position plays a key role in maintaining financial integrity and contributing to operational efficiency. Nice To Haves

  • 5-10 years of progressively responsible experience in accounting, fiscal operations, or a related field, preferably within a public sector or non-profit organization.
  • Demonstrated experience with budgeting, financial reporting, use of accounting systems, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience in managing data entry, generating ad hoc reports, and familiarity with accounting processes and procedures in accordance with state guidelines.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or similar certifications would be highly beneficial.
  • Demonstrate ability to apply and interpret policies, regulations, and laws.
  • Creative problem solving skills and a default to action
  • Ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain effective professional working relationships.
  • Ability to use tact and good judgment while communicating and working with customers, co-workers, management, and other government agency representatives.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced and changing environment.
  • Strong computer skills and experience with the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience working in a team environment.
  • Ability to speak clearly and effectively in front of a group.
