About The Position

Under general supervision of the Administrator I, the incumbent performs professional accounting work in maintaining the cash receipts, general ledger and allocating the receipts to the appropriate fund, and in maintaining spreadsheets and completing various reports. Establishes and maintains cooperative relations with those in daily contact in the course of the incumbents work day. Separation of Duties: The duties of this position include responsibilities covered by the State Administrative Manual (SAM) Section 7280. To ensure proper separation of duties, you may not be eligible for this position if a family member (domestic partners, children, husband, wife, brother, sister, or individuals living in the same household) works in the Accounting Section. Nice To Haves

  • Experience reconciling governmental funds and preparing financial statements
  • Knowledge of Uniform Accounting Principles, procedures, and financial record keeping
  • Ability to apply General Accounting Principles
  • Knowledge of the Financial Information System for California (FI$Cal) and California State Fund Accounting
  • Experience in working with Monarch software, Automated accounting systems and PC software
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office tools to develop and maintain documents, spreadsheets and databases
  • Ability to manage multiple or competing priorities in order to complete tasks within established timeframes
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with all levels of staff and management
  • Strong analytical, organizational, time management, and planning skills
  • Ability to analyze situations accurately and take effective action
  • Excellent time management and dependability
  • Customer Service experience
  • Strong communication skills (written and oral)
  • Ability to follow prescribed procedures, complete tasks and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work well independently and in a team environment
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic
  • Flexible and willing to learn in an environment of change
  • Education in Accounting or related field preferred
  • Taking or completed DOF State Fund Accounting course preferred
