About The Position

The Accounting Manager will report to the Executive Director, Finance and will be responsible for day-to day accounting activities including general ledger accounting, inventory accounting, invoicing, accounts receivable, and fixed asset accounting, while ensuring compliance with internal controls, policies, procedures, and U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Requirements

  • BS / BA in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • 7+ years progressive experience in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • Must be PC proficient and experienced with Microsoft Dynamics GP or other automated accounting/ERP system. Must also have strong experience with Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs), PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior pharmaceutical, biotech, or life sciences experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in month-end close related to general ledger accounting including preparing and reviewing monthly, quarterly and year-end journal entries.
  • Monitor bank lockbox cash receipts and post in the general ledger and balance to AR Aging report at month-end.
  • Invoice product shipped and book sales and associated accounts receivable entries in general ledger and reconcile to 3PL sub-ledgers and reports at month end.
  • Prepare inventory accounting entries at month end.
  • Prepare fixed asset accounting entries and reconcile to accounting firm sub-ledger at month end.
  • Maintain and monitor month-end closing checklist.
  • Timely completion or review of assigned account reconciliations.
  • Prepare or review year-end audit schedules and provide other audit assistance as required.
  • Ensure validity and integrity of financial transactions.
  • Protect the organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
  • Participate in ad hoc projects, including supporting budget/forecast activities and providing schedules needed by tax accountants.
  • Partner with other members within the accounting department to ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met.
  • Identify and communicate accounting issues and being proactive in recommending proposed resolutions.
  • Follow accounting policies and procedures established for the department and the company.
  • Establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with co-workers and staff members, at all levels of the company.
