By The Hand is a not-for-profit, religious organization. Individuals employed at By The Hand are working in ministerial roles and perform all or some of the following responsibilities: sharing the Gospel, teaching chapel, leading Bible studies, discipling students, and modeling behavior that is consistent with Christ’s teaching. Rate of Pay: $85,000 per year Overview of Position The Accounting Manager will enjoy a hybrid schedule with the flexibility to work from home and will be the primary point of contact with the external accounting firm. The ideal candidate for this role will have a good understanding of non-profit fund accounting, leadership experience, be inquisitive, tech-savvy, collaborative, have a process improvement mindset, and a positive can-do attitude. Success in this position includes identifying issues, and also suggesting and executing solutions to resolve them. This position reports directly to the CFO.

  • B.A. or B.S. in Accounting or Finance with solid understanding of nonprofit accounting principles and reporting standards.
  • Five or more years of relevant accounting, processing, and reporting experience.
  • Must have a valid driver's license, available transportation and their own auto insurance to travel around the city.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA preferred.
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce, Sage Intacct, Bill.com , and ADP Workforce Now.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Google Suite tools.
  • Ability to utilize database software, research programs, MS Office Suite and Drive, and all social media platforms.
  • Past experience working with or volunteering with a Christ-centered, youth- serving organization preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the month-end and year-end close processes with the outsourced accounting firm, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Cash management, including review and payment of invoices via Bill.com , wires, and review of weekly cash analysis.
  • Timely analysis and review of monthly financials, with an understanding of month-over-month expense trends, identifying potential problems, defining and implementing corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with the Human Resources team and payroll accountant to properly record bi-weekly payroll/benefit adjustments and entries.
  • Assist leaders in identifying, projecting and addressing monthly budget variances.
  • Monitor fixed assets/depreciation entries, and assist with ensuring adequate insurance coverage.
  • Work with Fund Development and the external accounting firm to review and reconcile donations from CRM to Intacct.
  • Work with the external accounting firm to maintain general ledger structure via Sage Intacct software, including departmental hierarchies, GL account and reporting structure, and any system modifications as needed.
  • Assist budget owners and external accounting firm with annual budget process, year-end financial statement audit, grant audits, Form 990 preparation, banking projects and any other external auditor requests.
  • Drive and implement process improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Ad-hoc reporting.
  • Performs other duties as required and assigned.
  • Performs in a way that is consistent with the vision, mission, and culture of By The Hand and commits to excellence in every aspect of the overall operation.
  • Models cultural values of By The Hand Club For Kids in day-to-day behavior.
  • Follows all policies as outlined in the operational guide, including maintaining brand standards and ensuring 100% adherence to the Child Protection Policy.
  • Participates in employee growth plans, including quarterly conversations and annual review meetings.
  • Has completed an evangelism course and is trained and prepared to share the gospel with anyone who inquires.
  • Works with staff and members of the EOS Leadership Team to monitor and enforce policies and procedures to further BTH’s religious purpose and freedom.
  • Leads a team devotional on a regular basis and participates in weekly team prayer.
  • Shows by example, the importance of Scripture memorization, Bible study, prayer, witnessing, and Christian fellowship.
  • Agrees with the By The Hand Club Doctrinal Statement and adheres to the Employee Biblical Standards of Living.
  • Has a personal and saving relationship with Jesus Christ, evidenced by a lifestyle that demonstrates the Word of God, and is in regular fellowship with other members in a Bible-believing church.
