About The Position

We’re currently hiring for a full-time Lifeguard able to work a variety of daytime and weekend shifts. The Kroc Center pool located in Green Bay is open Monday–Friday from 5:30am–1:00pm and evenings from 4:00 PM–8:30 PM. On Saturdays the pool is open from 6:30 AM–5:30 PM.   This position starts at $15.84/hour, with the opportunity to earn an additional $1.00/hour by also serving as a Swim Instructor. A $1.00/hour shift differential is offered for all hours worked from 4:00 PM Friday through Sunday.    This full time role offers a generous benefits package that includes excellent health, dental, vision, and hearing insurance as well as paid time off that includes 10 days of vacation per year, 12 sick days per year (6 of which can be taken like vacation days), 12 paid holidays, 2 personal days, and the ability to earn an additional 2 days of PTO through our wellness program. We invest in you as an employee and provide paid training and professional development opportunities and are looking for someone who wants to grow and develop with an organization that makes a difference in our community.   As a Lifeguard, you’ll help keep our aquatic spaces safe and welcoming during group fitness classes, splash play, swim lessons, underwater hockey, family swim times, and our busiest open swim hours. Across all lifeguard roles, you’ll monitor pool activities, assist guests, and enforce safety regulations while following the State of Wisconsin–approved aquatic staffing plan. You’ll also help with general facility upkeep and oversee lively areas like the splash play zone with tipping bucket, interactive water features, and the always-popular indoor/outdoor water slide, ensuring a fun and safe experience for all.   Become a valued part of the Kroc Center team—help us create a safe, fun, and memorable aquatic experience for all!

Requirements

  • 1 year of continuous experience in lifeguarding in a group environment preferred.
  • Experience working with adults, youth, and children.
  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • American Red Cross Lifeguard certification required.
  • Strong verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to address multiple projects in a timely manner while being responsive and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to interact with co-workers and the public in a positive, professional manner.
  • Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances.
  • Exercise good judgment in personal actions, personnel management, and professional matters.

Nice To Haves

  • Waterpark Certification preferred; must be completed upon hire.
  • Bilingual English / Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Considerately and patiently enforce Kroc rules to provide a safe environment for all members, visitors and employees. Cautions swimmers regarding unsafe areas and actions. Maintain order in swimming areas.
  • Must be able to analyze situations and adopt a quick and effective course of action; maintain constant observation of an assigned area to identify any signs of danger
  • Rescue swimmers in danger of drowning and provide first aid and CPR when needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness of swimming pool areas.
  • Provide great customer service to the community; see that all customers, clients and members are given prompt and courteous service.
  • Ensure that all equipment assigned to the aquatic facilities is maintained and properly inventoried on a regular basis, and report defects, necessary repairs, etc. to appropriate personnel.
  • Perform set up and breakdown of facility equipment as needed.
  • Implement water chemical tests as determined by the Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Maintain records regarding programs and operations as needed.
  • Participate in designated staff training and professional development courses, including regular in-service training sessions.
  • Follow all policies and procedures outlined in the Aquatics Staff Manual.
