About The Position

The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the financial activities of the Company and its subsidiaries in a multi-entity, multi-state manufacturing environment. This role leads core accounting operations, ensures compliance with GAAP and regulatory standards, and owns multi-state tax compliance, including sales and use tax, federal and state income tax coordination, and property tax reporting. The Accounting Manager will drive accuracy, strengthen internal controls over financial reporting, ensure timely completion of the close process, and support audit readiness. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership, technical accounting expertise, and hands-on experience managing tax compliance within a manufacturing organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. CPA designation preferred.
  • 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a management role.
  • Experience in a manufacturing and multi-entity environment.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls
  • Hands-on experience with multi-state sales and use tax compliance
  • Experience coordinating federal and state income tax filings
  • Experience managing property tax compliance
  • Direct experience with Avalara
  • Proficiency in ERP systems; experience with Epicor and OneStream preferred
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Deep understanding of manufacturing accounting and inventory-intensive operations
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Ability to interpret and apply complex tax and regulatory requirements
  • Proven ability to drive results in a fast-changing, scaling environment

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable accounting standards
  • Oversee and manage full-cycle month-end and year-end close processes
  • Manage general ledger, chart of accounts, account reconciliations, consolidations, and journal entries
  • Oversee key business process cycles, including order-to-cash and inventory accounting
  • Support preparation and analysis of income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
  • Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and improvement opportunities
  • Evaluate and enhance accounting processes, systems, and workflows for efficiency and scalability
  • Design, implement, and maintain internal controls over financial reporting
  • Develop and maintain Accounting Policies and Procedures and drive compliance
  • Own multi-state sales and use tax compliance, including nexus analysis, registrations, filings, reconciliations, and audit support
  • Administer and maintain Avalara for transaction tax calculation, exemption certificate management, and reporting accuracy
  • Coordinate preparation and review of federal, state, and local income tax filings in partnership with external advisors
  • Oversee property tax compliance, including asset listings, assessments, and appeals
  • Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations and assess operational and financial impact
  • Support internal and external audits, serving as a key point of contact for audit requests
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements across all operating jurisdictions
  • Collaborate with senior management to develop and implement financial strategies aligned with organizational goals.
  • Contribute to annual budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Partner with department heads to support budget development and variance analysis
  • Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals in a manufacturing environment
  • Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Provide training and professional development opportunities
  • Supervise daily accounting activities to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance
  • Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Supply Chain, Sales, and our legal team to ensure financial and tax compliance
  • Provide timely financial insights to support operational decision-making
