About The Position

The Accounting Lead is responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations within a fast-paced construction environment. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, job cost accounting, compliance with GAAP, and effective internal controls. The Accounting Lead supervises accounting staff and plays a key role in managing job costing, WIP schedules, subcontractor payments, and revenue recognition for long-term construction contracts.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities.
• Manage the month-end and year-end close processes and prepare accurate financial statements.
• Lead job cost accounting, ensuring accurate cost allocation, budget tracking, and project profitability analysis.
• Prepare and maintain Work in Progress (WIP) schedules and support percentage-of-completion revenue recognition.
• Review and process progress billings, subcontractor pay applications, retainage, and change orders.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and construction industry accounting standards.
• Maintain strong internal controls and support external audits and tax preparation.
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff while identifying and implementing process improvements.
