More about our team The Accounting Clerk is responsible for supporting the Financial Operations department with provider referral requests for both the Hospital and Physician Division, assisting with certain Accounts Payable and Payroll processes, and assist accounting staff with various financial reporting requirements. An Accounting Clerk who excels in this role: Has excellent oral and written communication skills Ability to work normal business hours and overtime as needed Familiarity with organization and functions of each hospital department Ability to problem-solve effectively and handle stress in a positive manner Maintain harmonious relationships with nursing personnel, medical staff, hospital administration, and all hospital departments

Requirements

  • Has an Associate’s Degree in Accounting or related field required
  • Demonstrates adequate problem solving skills
  • Reading, writing, speech, hearing and visual acuity are necessary in order to perform job
  • Extended periods of sitting at a desk/keyboard; bending and reaching in normal course of filing, data retrieval and occasional lifting
  • Standing, sitting, walking, occasionally throughout the day
  • May be required to lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Requires good analytical and communication skills
  • Adheres to hospital and departmental policies

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Accounts Payable processing and Accounting helpful but not required

Responsibilities

  • Possess the ability to work independently.
  • Possess the ability to perform tasks timely and accurately.
  • Possess the ability to work on multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
  • Possess the ability to analyze reports and research variances.
  • Communicates with department managers regularly regarding department productivity.
  • Review of Referral Source Payment Requests for accuracy. Determination of whether active contracts exist to support the payment arrangements and comparison to timesheets and other documentation. Conduct follow up as needed to ensure compliance and obtain required payment approvals. Maintenance of SOX documentation related to Accounts Payable, Payroll, and general Accounting processes in order to document compliance with required internal controls.
  • Maintain oversight of certain Accounts Payable functions such as new vendor requests, leadership matrix for invoice approvals, invoice aging, sales tax, and reporting requirements.
  • Assist with the preparation of payment forms and deduction forms for payroll processing.
  • Assists with the monitoring of some key controls related to productivity, statistics, and revenue.
