Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of accounting theory, principles, and practices.
  • Basic knowledge of internal audit/control processes.
  • Ability to keep records according to established accounting principles and techniques.

  • High school diploma or equivalent; and
  • Two years’ experience as an accounting clerk.

Nice To Haves

  • Certificate in Accounting or related.
  • Healthcare experience. Managed care experience. Experience in accounting in Medi-Cal or other state sponsored programs.
  • Experience with Great Plains and PeopleSoft Accounts Payable Module · QNXT or similar experience

Responsibilities

  • Compiles and reviews financial documents such as vouchers, requisitions, purchase orders and invoices for accuracy; identifies and corrects incomplete or incorrect items; prepares for payment; logs into supporting ledger.
  • Reviews GL coding of vouchers, requisitions, purchase orders and invoices for accuracy; identifies and corrects routine errors; corrects other errors as directed.
  • Compiles and reviews supporting documentation for various county, state and federal reports; researches and corrects incomplete or incorrect items.
  • Reviews supporting ledgers for accuracy against supporting documents; corrects routine errors as required.
  • Reconciles accounts payable and month end close.
  • Reviews and verifies SST’s for accuracy and supporting documentation; identifies and corrects errors; post to supporting ledger; verifies funds transfers.
  • Calculates and posts monthly accrual entries to supporting ledgers.
  • Reviews GL postings for reasonableness on a month end and ad hoc basis; identifies unexpected variances; corrects routine data entry errors.
  • Prepares invoices for mailing.
  • Inventories and orders stocks and supplies based on present and projected needs. Coordinates with auditor/controller on payments, reimbursements, and deposits.
