About The Position

This position is located at Craven Correctional Institution, a medium custody, male felon diagnostic processing center with a maximum population of 850 inmates that is located in Vanceboro, NC. This position is in the Administrative section working with Offender Trust Fund operations, bank deposits, process purchase requests (DC-440s) for Offender Welfare Expenditures, process Offender Money Orders Requests, Canteen Reports, other accounting functions as well as prepare responses based on research for Offender Grievances. This position has frequent contact with NCDAC Staff relative to Offender Trust Fund, outside vendors and general public. This position works closely with the mailroom staff in regards to incoming funds through the intake process and the mail as well as postage expenses. This position must be able to communicate well and work well with staff at all levels. This position will also provide backup to the other facility accounting staff and accounts payable duties. The position must be able to work independently and meet constant deadlines while performing several tasks simultaneously. This position also provides backup support for equipment control and other accounting and administrative areas as necessary.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of spelling, punctuation and vocabulary.
  • Basic knowledge of office practices and procedures.
  • Basic knowledge of bookkeeping principles and practices.
  • Ability to arrange and place records, reports, files and other documents into a defined sequence.
  • Ability to screen and refer communications using defined procedures.
  • Ability to use a variety of standard office equipment.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person and by telephone.
  • Ability to learn the use of special office equipment.
  • Ability to perform simple arithmetic calculations.
  • High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
