About The Position

The Accounting Associate (Part-Time) supports the Finance Department with a primary focus on Accounts Payable operations, while also contributing to general accounting, and financial support functions as needed. This role is well-suited for a detail-oriented accounting professional who brings strong technical skills, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the broader finance team. The ideal candidate demonstrates a solid understanding of accounting principles, experience with cloud-based accounting systems, and a proactive mindset toward improving accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in accounting required; Bachelor’s degree in accounting or Finance strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounts payable or general accounting
  • Experience working with cloud-based accounting and financial systems, or similar accounting software, Financial Edge or QuickBooks Online preferred
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines independently
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other standard office applications
  • Comfortable working with cloud-based accounting and financial systems
  • Professional communication skills when interacting with vendors and internal stakeholders
  • Discretion and integrity when handling confidential financial information
  • Reliable, organized, and self-directed
  • Calm and solution-oriented when handling discrepancies or time-sensitive tasks
  • Willingness to assist beyond core responsibilities when needed
  • Collaborative team player with a service-oriented mindset
  • Continuous learner who stays current with accounting tools and best practices

Responsibilities

  • Review, code, and process vendor invoices accurately and in a timely manner
  • Maintain vendor accounts, ensuring compliance with internal policies and accounting standards
  • Resolve invoice discrepancies and respond to vendor inquiries professionally
  • Process check requests, electronic payments, and employee expense reimbursements
  • Audit and reconcile credit card transactions and supporting documentation
  • Prepare and record journal entries, including recurring and adjusting entries
  • Assist with monthly account reconciliations (bank, credit card, and general ledger accounts)
  • Support fixed asset tracking and depreciation schedules
  • Assist with accounts receivable tracking as needed
  • Maintain organized and complete accounting records to support audits and reviews
  • Assist with preparation of monthly financial reports and supporting schedules
  • Provide support for internal and external audit preparation
  • Monitor payroll reports and filings in coordination with payroll providers
  • Ensure proper documentation and adherence to GAAP and organizational policies
  • Provide cross-functional support and training to staff on finance-related systems or portals as needed
