What Does an Accounting Assistant Do? Enter and process third party payments and reconcile to member and organization accounts Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities to ensure government and agency receivable transactions are estimated and recorded into the proper accounting period Process physical and ACH payments received at the Association Office and complete deposit procedures related to those transactions Prepare journal entries as needed Serve as primary backup for Accounts Payable Manager Generate financial reports related to accounts receivable, including aging reports, cash collections, and bad debt analysis and work with staff to update billing information and collect past due balances Communicate, coordinate and train branch staff on proper membership and operating processes and procedures Communicate to collection agencies and chargeback centers to ensure accuracy with members disputing charges, send to collections, or those removed from collections Work with members and staff to resolve account discrepancies and/or ensure that payments are correctly applied and received in a timely fashion Assist branches in processing and uploading any required data and information needed by third party agencies in their billing requirements Utilize various communication channels, such as phone calls, emails, and letters, to follow up with members and collect outstanding payments (i.e. dues and donations) in a confidential manner Our Commitment to Belonging At the Channel Islands YMCA, we are committed to building bridges within our communities.
