The Accounting Assistant performs critical accounting functions contributing to financial performance and compliance. This role involves assisting with preparing, reviewing, and posting month-end entries, preparing balance sheet reconciliations, and performing various accounting processes and analysis throughout the month. The position will work with other team members to streamline accounting processes and improve controls. The ideal candidate will demonstrate attention to detail, a willingness to learn, and an interest in healthcare finance. The Accounting Assistant will receive guidance from a mentor on the Accounting Team to provide connection, build professional experience, and ensure professional development.

Requirements

  • High School diploma required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel skills.
  • Available 16 hours per week and full-time during breaks if enrolled in college or university.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong attention to detail, maintain confidentiality, prioritization and organizational skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Relevant coursework or previous internships in finance/accounting.
  • Familiarity with accounting software (experience with Workday or similar software is a plus).

Responsibilities

  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and prepare journal entries as directed.
  • Assist to ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes ensuring all financial reporting deadlines are met.
  • Perform data entry and help maintain accurate financial records in accordance with accounting standards.
  • Conduct research on discrepancies and report findings to the finance team.
  • Support the finance team with budget tracking and expense analysis.
  • Be a key resource in the preparation and compilation of various healthcare and compliance reporting requirements.
  • Assist with special projects as assigned, including finance and supply chain initiatives.
