About The Position

The Hilton Richmond Hotel & Spa/Short Pump is looking for an accounting and administrative professional with a flair for hospitality and an eye for detail to join us as Accounting and Human Resources Assistant. The Hilton Short Pump is a flagship property of Shamin Hotels, Central Virginia's largest hotel management company. We own and operate 78 full- and select-service hotels under the Hilton, Hyatt, Marriott, InterContinental and Choice flags. The Accounting and HR Assistant supports the daily financial operations of the hotel by performing bookkeeping and administrative accounting tasks and maintaining communication with group clients and individual guests. This role ensures accuracy in financial transactions and maintains organized records to support the hotel's accounting department and better serve our guests. Likewise, this role supports the human resources function by assisting in recruiting, onboarding and training and ongoing employee engagement activities.

Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business required.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or a related role and hospitality industry experience is strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and financial transactions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and accounting software is required and HRIS such as Paycom or Dominion Payroll is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on accuracy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills and proficiency in English.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong sense of discretion, diplomacy and respect for guest, employee and other confidential information.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings, weekends and holidays.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with the Hilton system and Hilton’s Property Engagement Platform (PEP) is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processing, including invoice verification, payment processing, and collections.
  • Reconcile daily revenue reports and verify transactions against hotel records.
  • Prepare bank deposits and cash reconciliations while ensuring proper handling of hotel funds.
  • Serve as cashier and provide other support for large groups and events.
  • Support payroll processing by reviewing timekeeping records and ensuring accuracy.
  • Assist with general ledger entries, journal postings, and month-end closing procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures, including tax regulations and internal controls.
  • Maintain accurate financial documentation and assist with audits when necessary.
  • Respond to vendor inquiries and maintain positive supplier relationships.
  • Organize and maintain financial records, ensuring proper documentation of invoices, receipts, and expense reports.
  • Support other accounting team members with ad hoc projects and reporting as needed.
  • Draft job requisitions and postings and other HR documents.
  • Complete initial screenings and interviews for entry level candidates, document hiring process and report results to hiring managers.
  • Review timekeeping and other records using HRIS including Paycom.
  • Promote internal communications and employee education efforts and coordinate programs with Corporate HR.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of employee engagement and recognition initiatives.
