The Accounting and Automation Support Bureau is recruiting a motivated and skilled accounting professional to join our team as an Accounting Administrator I (Supervisor) in the Financial Information System for California (FI$Cal) Operations Unit within the FI$Cal and Systems Section. The incumbent is responsible for overseeing two Associate Administrative Analyst, Accounting Systems; three Associate Accounting Analysts; two Accountant Trainees/Accounting Officer, Specialists; and one Student Assistant in performing complex tasks and assignments related to labor distribution, cost allocation processes, and database programs for automated entry of accounting data. This position assists the Accounting Administrator II in the development, implementation, and maintenance of FI$Cal to support daily operational needs and ongoing improvements of queries, data extracts of accounting data, and assisting the Accounting and Fiscal Systems Branch with FI$Cal Month End and Year End processes.

  • Overseeing two Associate Administrative Analyst, Accounting Systems; three Associate Accounting Analysts; two Accountant Trainees/Accounting Officer, Specialists; and one Student Assistant in performing complex tasks and assignments related to labor distribution, cost allocation processes, and database programs for automated entry of accounting data.
  • Assists the Accounting Administrator II in the development, implementation, and maintenance of FI$Cal to support daily operational needs and ongoing improvements of queries, data extracts of accounting data, and assisting the Accounting and Fiscal Systems Branch with FI$Cal Month End and Year End processes.
  • A Statement of Qualifications or Supplemental Questionnaire must be submitted along with your application in order to be considered for this position.

Arial font; have 1" margins; be limited to no more than two (2) single-sided pages; be in narrative form (no bullet points); and detail your interest in the Department of Social Services and how your education and experience qualifies you for the position.
  • You are required to complete employment history on the application form (STD 678). You may be disqualified from the hiring and selection process if the employment history is not complete.
  • If you are meeting minimum qualifications with education, you must include your unofficial transcripts for verification. If selected, you may be required to provide official transcripts at the time of hire.
  • A strong working knowledge of FI$Cal modules and processes.
  • A strong working knowledge of state accounting.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • An ability to manage multiple priorities and work well under pressure while using sound judgement.
  • The ability to manage staff and workload to meet new and competing deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products (i.e., Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc) and automated accounting systems.
  • Also preferable--knowledge of Power BI.
