About The Position

The Accountant works closely with the Accounting Manager and Chief Financial Officer to support the organization’s financial operations. This role is responsible for reviewing accounts payable activity, preparing and analyzing monthly financial and budget variance reports, supporting leadership with accounting insights, and assisting with contract review and compliance. The Accountant plays a key role in ensuring financial accuracy, operational efficiency, and sound fiscal planning. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred; equivalent experience considered
  • Experience with general ledger accounting, accounts payable, and accounts receivable
  • Proficiency in preparing and reviewing financial reports and supporting schedules
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review monthly financial statements, budget variance reports, and supporting spreadsheets
  • Analyze financial trends, identify negative variances, and propose solutions
  • Review accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll entries, and general ledger activity
  • Perform and review multiple monthly bank reconciliations
  • Review State B&O tax reports and prepare City B&O tax filings
  • Manage daily banking functions
  • Coordinate year-end cash planning, taxable life calculations, accruals, and reconciliations to support timely tax filings by the CPA firm
  • Analyze and track contractual obligations with vendors
  • Provide accounting support to leadership and other departments as needed
  • Serve as backup for Accounts Payable functions
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Accounting Manager and/or CFO
