About The Position

Donlin Gold is seeking a highly motivated Accountant and Senior Accountant to join the Finance team supporting the Donlin Gold Project—one of the world’s largest undeveloped gold deposits located in Alaska’s Yukon-Kuskokwim region. Reporting to the Controller and working closely with the Accounting, Supply Chain, and Operations teams, this role supports critical financial functions including general accounting, cost and operational reporting, month-end close activities, financial analysis, and compliance with internal controls and industry standards. The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting expertise with ERP proficiency and a collaborative, detail-oriented approach to support both site and corporate financial operations throughout the Project’s development and future operations.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5–7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including full-cycle accounting, month-end close leadership, financial analysis, and complex reconciliations.
  • Experience reviewing the work of junior staff and supporting audits preferred.
  • Prior experience in mining, construction, engineering, energy, or other large project-based or industrial environments strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, Dynamics, or similar) required; advanced Excel skills expected.
  • Minimum 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, including general ledger, reconciliations, budgeting and financial reporting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • CPA or progress toward professional certification preferred (Senior Accountant level preferred).
  • Candidates must have current authorization to work in the United States.
  • A post-offer criminal background clearance, physical and drug screening are required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform full-cycle accounting functions, including general ledger maintenance, journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and month-end and year-end close activities.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, internal management reports, and cost reports supporting project development and operational decision-making.
  • Support project and cost accounting activities, including tracking capital and operating expenditures, variance analysis, and budget-to-actual reporting.
  • Partner with Supply Chain and Operations teams to ensure accurate processing of purchase orders, goods receipts, and invoices, and proper cost allocation.
  • Review accounts payable and receivable transactions for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company policies and internal controls.
  • Maintain supporting documentation and audit trails to ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and external audit requirements.
  • Assist with cash management, fixed asset accounting, inventory accounting, and capitalization of project costs as applicable.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of accounting processes, internal controls, and ERP system utilization.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to junior accounting staff (Senior Accountant level).
  • Support special projects, financial modeling, and ad-hoc analysis as required by management.
