About The Position

Watchmaker is inviting applications for the full-time position of Accountant based in Boulder Colorado. The successful candidate will thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced working environment and contribute directly to our company culture and success. This is an onsite in-office position with flexibility to work from home one day a week. This role is primarily focused on core accounting operations, including transaction processing, reconciliations, and supporting the month-end close. The Accountant will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial records, resolve queries, and maintain strong financial controls.

Requirements

  • The candidate should have a Bachelor of Science (Financial) degree with 3+ years’ experience.
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities, maintain a high standard of work, and perform consistently under pressure and within deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team.
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to work with both finance and non-finance teams to resolve queries and maintain accurate financial information.
  • Strong personal task management, with a high level of self-motivation, accountability, and initiative.
  • Problem-solving mindset, with the ability to identify issues and work towards practical solutions.
  • Strong Excel skills and experience working with accounting or ERP systems (e.g., Xero, Epicor, or similar financial systems).
  • Experience working in operational finance functions, such as Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, or general accounting.
  • Understanding of core accounting principles and experience working with financial transactions and reconciliations.

  • Experience in biotech and a start-up environment are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Accounts Payable Processing: Take ownership of the day-to-day Accounts Payable processing function, including reviewing invoices, coding expenses, ensuring appropriate approvals, and maintaining accurate supplier records.
  • Transaction Processing & Review: Ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately and in accordance with company policies and accounting standards.
  • Month-End Close & Reconciliations: Prepare account reconciliations, supporting schedules, and assist with month-end close to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial records.
  • Fixed Assets & CAPEX: Maintain the fixed asset register, support asset capitalization, and ensure accurate tracking of capital expenditures.
  • Tax & Compliance Support: Assist with operational tax requirements, including sales tax processing and supporting documentation where required.
  • Cross-Functional Support: Partner with teams across Operations, Manufacturing, Procurement, R&D, Marketing, HR, and Commercial to resolve financial queries and ensure accurate financial data.
  • Systems & Process Improvement: Support improvements to financial systems, workflows, and documentation to strengthen financial operations.
  • Ad Hoc & Team Support: Contribute to finance team initiatives and provide support across accounting functions as needed, including ad hoc projects.
  • The above responsibilities are not exhaustive and other similar duties may be required from time to time.
