TOPS is headquartered in Naperville, IL with employees and locations across North America. Accountant We are seeking a detail-oriented Accountant to join our headquarters in Naperville. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and supply chain, while maintaining flexibility between in-office collaboration and remote work. The ideal candidate will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting the close process, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards in a dynamic manufacturing environment. This role will report into our Finance Director.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 2–5 years of financial analysis experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Solid understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with ERP systems (Microsoft D365 preferred)
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with operations and non-finance stakeholders
  • Detail-oriented with a strong sense of ownership and accountability

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post journal entries and maintain general ledger accuracy
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
  • Perform account reconciliations, including inventory, fixed assets, and accruals
  • Support inventory accounting, including valuation, adjustments, and analysis
  • Assist in cost accounting activities, including standard cost updates and variance analysis
  • Assist in revenue-related activities, including invoicing and credit memo reviews
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and operations teams to ensure accurate financial reporting
  • Support audits by preparing schedules and documentation for internal and external auditors
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and GAAP standards
  • Analyze financial data and provide insights to improve efficiency and accuracy
