The Accountant, as an individual contributor and under the supervision of the Controller, performs and monitors the financial planning and reporting of the City’s capital improvement projects, economic development incentive programs, capital assets and bank reconciliations. Performs general accounting functions including preparation of financial reporting, examining and analyzing accounts and ensuring compliance with financial reporting and other standard accounting procedures. Salary range: $51,042 - $63,809

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience with preparing journal entries, general ledger accounting, financial reporting, bank reconciliations and fixed asset accounting.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and practices including GAAP and GASB.
  • Knowledge of accounting software systems
  • Proficient skills with Microsoft Office applications with emphasis in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Mathematical and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments and the public
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently deal with contractors, vendors, other departments and fellow workers.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in government accounting preferred.
