About The Position

The Accountant/Office Manager is primarily responsible for managing the company’s day-to-day accounting functions, financial reporting, and recordkeeping. This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial data while supporting month-end close, payroll, and compliance activities. In addition, this position provides light administrative and office support to ensure smooth daily operations. The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, organized, and capable of balancing accounting responsibilities with occasional office coordination tasks. This is a direct-hire position.

Requirements

  • Strong accounting background with hands-on experience in core accounting functions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Experience with accounting software systems (Sage experience preferred; training provided)
  • Knowledge of payroll processing, general ledger, and financial reporting
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Experience working in a small to mid-sized business environment

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with construction or project-based accounting (including WIP) is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Process and manage payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable regulations
  • Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoice processing and collections
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations and assist with month-end close, including WIP (Work in Progress) reconciliation
  • Prepare and process billings
  • Support tax filings and compliance requirements
  • Generate and maintain all required financial and operational reports
  • Prepare monthly financial statements for review by company leadership
  • Assist with year-end reporting and coordinate with external accounting firm
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of all financial data
  • Answer and direct incoming phone calls in a professional manner
  • Greet and assist visitors, directing them to appropriate staff
  • Manage incoming and outgoing mail and correspondence
  • Perform general administrative duties including filing, data entry, copying, and document preparation
  • Support office organization and maintain office equipment
  • Assist leadership and project teams with miscellaneous administrative tasks as needed
