About The Position

About the role: The Staff Accountant will be responsible for daily receivable transactions and maintenance of the monthly general ledger. The Staff Accountant will provide support with various accounting transactions. Requirements

  • High School Diploma required
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in an accounting department required
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting practices and procedures
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with MS Office products
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Drug testing and background check
  • Testing related to job requirements
  • Must be able to manage flexible work schedules; long and/or irregular hours may be required in cases of accidents, emergencies or natural disasters.
  • Some work is accomplished in an office equipped with a telephone and computer where the employee is subjected to long periods spent sitting, typing, or looking at a computer screen.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting preferred
  • Knowledge of automated account system, J.D. Edwards System is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for organizing monthly general ledger activity for input into the accounting system.
  • Monitors account balances and makes necessary adjustments.
  • Prepares journal entries.
  • Prepares and processes documentation for internal and external auditors.
  • Identifies and investigates problems with the accounting system on an as-needed basis.
  • Works closely with the field to ensure accuracy of accounting information.
  • Prepares income and balance sheet statements and various other accounting statements and reports for submission to the Department Lead
  • Reviews and verifies the accuracy of journal entries and accounting classifications assigned to various records.
  • Conducts special studies and develops or recommends accounting methods and procedures.
  • Performs monthly bank reconciliations and account analysis.
  • Reconciles assigned accounts and calculates depreciation/amortization expenses as needed.
  • May assist with training and mentoring Accountants.
  • Analyzes trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses.
  • Analyzes financial reports and records, making recommendations for the accounting of reserves, assets, and expenditures.
  • All other accounting duties as assigned.
