The City of Virginia Beach Department of Human Services is seeking a detail-oriented and driven Accountant II to join our dedicated team. Responsibilities

  • Participate in the development of the annual operating budget for Behavioral Health and Developmental Services divisions through collection and maintenance of historical trend information, FTE counts, and State and Federal requirements for CSB programs.
  • Gather data for Performance contract, to include FTE information, State, Federal and other source revenues, expenditure status for multiple programs and grants.
  • Perform cost accounting functions for revenue and expense recognition and reconciliation, completion of complex state, federal program reports to include grants and ensure compliance with established grantor requirements.
  • Prepare Monthly and Quarterly Cost Account reports for CSB programs and grants.
  • Compile periodic financial reports for various programs to include annual operating budget and mid-year and year-end financial status reports in support of the Finance Officer.
  • Participate in the completion of annual ICF Cost Settlement report for department ICF programs.
  • ProCard Management, review and allocation of monthly purchases for various programs within the Human Services Department.
  • Perform Quarterly Audits of reconciliations for revenue and expenditures, consumer ledgers, deposits and vendors.
  • Maintain documentation and materials related to financial audits from both internal and external sources.
  • Support requests from program supervisors regarding program financial information and assist with resolution of accounting issues to include completion of Journal Transfers.
  • Approve office supplies order requests from multiple budget units within the DHS.
