About The Position

The Accountant II is responsible for assisting in carrying out the responsibilities of the Controller, including assisting in all aspects of the organizations monthly closing process, year-end audit and various financial analysis. The Lead Accountant performs a full range of professional accounting work with a thorough knowledge of GAAP. Skills necessary to succeed include strong math skills, knowledge of business principles, analytic & problem-solving skills, tech savvy mindset, and good verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare journal entries, reconcile accounts while ensuring process documentation is up to date and GAAP is consistently applied.
• Work with other accountants and company codes to understand the interactions.
• Learn a different company code by following existing documentation to determine if revisions are necessary.
• Seek time saving processes and share with the team.
• Maintains internal controls by following policies & procedures, and by complying with federal, state, GAAP and other applicable requirements.
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining person networks, and participating in professional organizations.
• Share what you learn with the accounting team.
• Master financial tools available with Centra like Oracle & Axiom.
• Work with Decision Support to develop better reporting & analysis tools/reports.
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining person networks, and participating in professional organizations.
• Assist with audit schedule preparation and responses.
• Be completely responsible for company codes assigned demonstrating thorough understanding of operations and financial results.
• Prepare ad hoc analysis as needed.
• May perform other duties as assigned or requested and job specifications can be modified or updated at any time.
