About The Position

Georgia State University is seeking to hire an Accountant II within the Office of Disbursements. This position is responsible for policy interpretation and university-wide training as it relates to travel policy and processing. The position will also be responsible for annual reporting to the Board of Regents, travel account reconciliation, and back-up for various responsibilities within the unit.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and two years’ experience; or a high school diploma or GED and six years bookkeeping or accounting experience; or a combination of education and experience.
  • Must be bondable for some positions.

Responsibilities

  • Audit travel expense statements to ensure compliance with State of Georgia travel regulations and policies. Interpret policies for the University community and train as necessary. Process travel payments and reimbursements.
  • Reconcile employee travel accounts to the General Ledger and assist with the preparation of the annual employee travel report to the State of Georgia Department of Audits and Accounts.
  • Monitor and reconcile open travel advances to the General Ledger. Inform departments and College Administrative Officers of any outstanding advances due.
  • Process payments for direct billed car rentals and lodging, including airfare and hotel prepayments.
  • Manage year-end travel and pre-paid expenses for department’s current year budgets and transfer future travel to new fiscal year.
