About The Position

As an accountant II supporting the Controllership accounting function, you will be part of a team that supports Starbucks' growing and complex global business. This team leads accounting for multiple disciplines including retail store occupancy, investments, compensation, and corporate treasury and risk functions. This individual contributor role involves supporting accounting close and financial reporting activities, developing reporting and analyses to maintain financial statement accuracy, supporting business partners, implementing and documenting new and current accounting processes, and preparing deliverables for SEC filings. You will collaborate with teams across Starbucks to help grow the existing business and support new initiatives, as well as prepare quarterly financial reporting deliverables for respective areas.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2+ years of experience in accounting at a professional level, including journal entries, account reconciliation, reporting and analysis or equivalent experience

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • Experience using an ERP system and business intelligence and reporting tools (such as Hyperion, Anaplan, and Oracle)

Responsibilities

  • Prepare journal entries and/or financial statement disclosures for accuracy and compliance with company policies and applicable accounting principles.
  • Prepare account reconciliations.
  • Maintain and develop various accounting systems and processes in your area.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to existing systems and processes.
  • Perform trend and variance analysis as part of month- and quarter-end close.
  • Support quarterly earnings reporting and ongoing budget and forecasting processes.
  • Effectively produce ad-hoc reporting and analysis to support business operational, financial and strategic decisions.
  • Drive the business forward as part of a highly collaborative team, while acting in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles.
