Role Overview As an Accountant I (Payroll), you will handle key financial responsibilities that ensure timely and accurate payroll processing for our district employees. Your role will support the smooth operation of payroll systems, collaborate with departments to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, and address any payroll inquiries with professionalism.

Requirements

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Proficiency in using payroll software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in payroll processing, ideally within an educational or public-sector environment, is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process payroll transactions, including verifying timecards and ensuring compliance with district policies.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure proper documentation and filing of payroll information.
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies and communicate effectively with employees regarding any payroll-related issues.
  • Assist in preparing payroll reports and end-of-period documentation for audits and reviews.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources and finance personnel to integrate payroll data with budgetary and HR systems.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and best practices concerning payroll.
