About The Position

FleishmanHillard’s Washington office is seeking a versatile public affairs professional with at least five (5) years of experience to join the firm’s Public Affairs practice as an Account Supervisor. In this role, you will work in a fast-paced environment on a wide range of public affairs and external communications efforts supporting clients that are navigating complex policy environments, managing high-stakes issues, and engaging with policymakers, policy influencers and other stakeholders. Candidates must have agency public affairs experience; understand how to reach and motivate public affairs audiences; strong writing skills; experience working with influential media outlets; and the ability to work collaboratively with senior team members and clients. The ideal candidate will have experience working on a range of public affairs initiatives and leading parts of campaigns. Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5 years of agency experience in public affairs.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of legislative and regulatory processes (federal and state)
  • Understanding of public affairs media, trends, and channels to reach PA audiences.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and clients while demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and the judgment to work independently.
  • High attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple ongoing activities.
  • Creative thinker with excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Energetic, self-starter and resourceful problem solver – gets things moving and keeps them on track.
  • Strong project management skills with ability to manage multiple ongoing activities, meet deadlines, and coordinate across teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and familiarity with communications and research tools.
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft office packages including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Work with senior members of the Public Affairs team to implement public affairs campaigns and client needs – including messaging, materials, content, media outreach, research on reporters and stakeholders, issue tracking, analysis and insights, interview support and more.
  • Develop high-quality, client-ready materials including talking points, press releases, pitches, background materials, and fact sheets that distill complex information and deliver clear, compelling writing.
  • Support and manage work streams and projects (project management).
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues and clients.
  • Develop pitches/stories and secure interest from all types of media outlets.
  • Share ideas and contribute to the development of strategic communications plans.
  • Contribute to new business proposals.
  • Support issue management and rapid response efforts, including tracking policy shifts, analyzing implications for clients, developing messaging and conducting outreach to journalists.
  • Conduct legislative and regulatory research and analysis; monitor policy developments and brief clients on strategic implications and government landscape shifts.
