About The Position

The Account Manager is responsible for profitably growing International Paper’s sales of industrial and retail packaging, point‑of‑purchase solutions, and turnkey services—including creative design, digital and traditional printing, and fulfillment. Provides technical expertise and high‑level project management to strengthen relationships with major consumer packaged goods companies, achieve sales objectives, and ensure customer satisfaction. Works closely with sales, design, national accounts, customer service, project management, manufacturing, and fulfillment teams to build, maintain, and grow assigned accounts. Executes Key Account Plans and IP’s value proposition through both consultative and transactional account management. This individual contributor role reports to the Southeast Sales Manager and involves both consultative and transactional account management in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience managing national, regional, or local accounts in display sales, value‑added corrugated packaging, or specialty printing/graphics solutions.
  • Demonstrated success in driving sales growth and retaining existing business.
  • Knowledge of retail packaging and consumer trends, merchandising strategies, corrugated container design, enhanced graphics, pricing, costing, quality processes, and printing.
  • Strong professional sales and technical skills supporting value‑added packaging products and services.
  • Solid understanding of business principles, financial management, and industry practices.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross‑functional teams within customer organizations to support specialty graphics and packaging solutions.
  • Self‑motivated with the ability to work independently while collaborating closely with internal stakeholders.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, integrity, and credibility.
  • Strong problem‑solving and proactive communication skills.
  • Action‑oriented mindset with ability to make timely decisions and deliver high‑quality solutions.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and provide leadership or follow direction as needed.
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to manage pressure, objections, and rejection.
  • Willingness to work overtime or irregular hours; occasional overnight travel required.
  • High attention to detail with strong time management, organizational, presentation, and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in corrugated specialty packaging, project management, customer service, or operations is highly desirable.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field strongly preferred.
