About The Position

The Royals are looking to add a relationship-driven, experienced sales professional to our Group Sales team. The ideal candidate will be a motivated, coachable, and creative individual with a passion for sales. We are seeking someone with group ticketing and/or event selling experience that includes ideating, building, and executing large group events and theme nights. The primary responsibilities of the position will be developing group events, renewing groups and suite clients, and overseeing the ticketing responsibilities of Royals’ special events and theme nights. This sales professional is responsible for positively resolving all issues, exceeding customer expectations, and providing interaction reflective of a model professional sports franchise.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Sales, or related field.
  • Minimum of two (2) years prior experience in sales and/or customer service with proven ability to meet deadlines and quotas.
  • Experience in ticket sales, preferably in group sales.
  • Proficient skills in computer programs including MS Office products such as Word, Excel, Outlook, TDC and CRM.
  • Ability to learn and master new software programs.
  • Basic mathematical and writing skills.
  • Excellent oral communication, customer service and problem solving.
  • Ability to function in fast-paced environment, handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to travel around the stadium visiting clients during home games.
  • Must be able to escort and show potential customers various seating options and facilities around the stadium as well.
  • Consistent, punctual, and regular attendance.
  • Professional image and demeanor.
  • Available to work flexible hours including holidays, evenings, and weekends.
  • Ability to lift items weighing as much as 15 pounds
  • Must be able to work in a seated position for majority of workday
  • Must be able to be productive utilizing a computer keyboard and telephone
  • Must be able to be productive in a work environment where the noise level can be high at times
  • Must be comfortable walking to navigate the facility to access the office, concourse, etc.
  • Must be able to work extended hours and/or weekends as required by deadlines and event scheduling

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with hospitality sales is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Selling primarily Royals group and hospitality tickets and the ability to sell suites, season memberships and single game tickets.
  • Reach individual and departmental sales goals as set by Management.
  • Identify and establish relationships with community anchor groups to help support and grow Royals ticket sales.
  • Continuously exploring and creating new group sales opportunities through research of the Kansas City market, success in other markets and new interest opportunities.
  • Build and maintain relationships with existing groups and suite clients and grow their spending year over year.
  • Meet and exceed KPI expectations; to include in-person meetings, call and email metrics as determined by management.
  • Accurately track and report all customer data in the ticketing system and CRM database.
  • Develop and maintain a relationship with our event marketing team to grow Royals theme events as assigned.
  • Experience working and selling large volume events/groups. (500+ people)
  • Responsible for working select Royals home games.
  • Represent the Royals Sales and Retention departments at all sales and service events in a positive manner.
  • Other Duties as assigned.
