We are seeking an experienced Freelance Client Director to support one of AKQA’s most established and celebrated client partnerships in Atlanta. This is a large-scale, high-profile account delivering digital products and services used by millions, with work spanning multiple business units, touchpoints, and customer experiences. In this role, you will lead day-to-day client partnership and delivery oversight, help align stakeholders across product, design, research, and technology, and proactively identify opportunities to improve outcomes and deepen the relationship.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of agency or client services experience, with demonstrated leadership on complex engagements.
  • Strong experience delivering digital products and services (web/app/platform), partnering with product, design, research, engineering, and operations stakeholders.
  • Confident, credible presence with senior stakeholders; strong relationship-building skills grounded in substance, follow-through, and sound judgment.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented; able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with shifting constraints.
  • Clear, persuasive communicator (written and verbal) who can align diverse groups and drive decisions.
  • Proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a day-to-day lead for client relationships, building trust and credibility across multiple stakeholder groups and workstreams.
  • Act as a strategic partner: understand business objectives, clarify priorities, and translate needs into actionable plans for digital product/service delivery.
  • Lead client conversations with confidence, clarity, and authority—driving alignment on goals, timelines, roles, and deliverables.
  • Partner closely with Strategy, UX, Research, Technology, and Delivery leads to ensure work is high-quality, on time, and aligned to outcomes.
  • Provide oversight across a complex digital ecosystem (web, mobile, and supporting platforms/services), helping teams navigate cross-dependencies.
  • Identify and drive proactive opportunities (new initiatives, optimizations, pilots), bringing forward recommendations grounded in user and business value.
  • Anticipate risks early, manage expectations, and resolve ambiguity; escalate when appropriate with clear options and implications.
  • Support planning cadences (quarterly/initiative-level), mapping recommendations to client goals and measurable KPIs.
  • Engage effectively within an interactive client culture, strengthening relationships through both formal and informal collaboration.
  • Maintain strong documentation and communication hygiene (notes, decisions, action items), ensuring shared clarity across teams.
