About The Position

This position is an on-call substitute role, working on an as-needed basis. The instructor will prescribe individual and/or group lessons to help students overcome difficulties in mathematics and reading. Responsibilities include providing instruction in subjects such as Reading, Mathematics, Workplace Communications, Career Success Standards (CSS), Health Education, Driver's Education, or HSD/HSE, and conducting and managing academic classes.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Computer literacy with basic computer functions, email, internet, and basic programs such as Adobe Acrobat.
  • High level of communication, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills.
  • High level of ability to motivate, inspire, and educate students effectively.
  • Minimum of one to two years related experience in education.
  • Bachelor's degree in education from a four-year college or university and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid State Driver's License.
  • Certified to teach in state in which center is located (RO may waive if center is unable to hire certified teachers, but the candidate must pursue certification).

Responsibilities

  • Perform as an instructor, as needed in a substitute capacity, in a regular classroom setting, presenting instruction in the area of Reading, Mathematics, Workplace Communications, CSS, Health Education, Driver's Education, or HSD/HSE.
  • Endeavor to promote a positive and desirable atmosphere within the classroom setting, ensuring maximum student motivation.
  • Maintain a high degree of discipline within the classroom in order to ensure maximum learning.
  • Establish a high degree of student/instructor rapport.
  • Work directly with the career tech instructors in coordinating curriculum development.
  • Utilize all possible curricular resources available at the Center.
  • Make adequate preparation for classroom.
  • Maintain students' personal folders, recording personal data, including test scores, evaluations, incident reports, achievement awards, and any other pertinent information concerning students.
  • Record attendance in CIS.
  • Participate in ESP's (evaluation of student performance).
  • Evaluate student employee's performance in academics and CSS.
  • Provide regular feedback to student employees regarding appropriate CSS.
  • Work toward meeting performance management goals.
  • Follow CDSS plan and Code of Conduct system daily.
  • Assist with quarterly graduation exercises.
  • Comply with all DOL guidelines, OFCCP regulations, Job Corps notices and bulletins, and Center policies and procedures.
  • Maintain good housekeeping in all areas and comply with safety practices.
  • Demonstrate and abide by Serrato Corporation's core values and operating principles.
  • Model, mentor, monitor appropriate Career Success Standards.
  • Participate in PRH-mandated staff training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
