The Gould School of Law is seeking to hire an Academic Services Coordinator to join the Office of Academic Services. Assists in conceptualizing, planning, preparing, and coordinating curriculum development and revision activities for the school. Develops and refines curriculum minors in collaboration with faculty. Receives, reviews, and analyzes requests for changes in course and degree programs and academic policies and procedures. Advises deans, department chairs, faculty, and department staff on submission requirements for requests. Assists faculty and staff in preparing and presenting new or modified courses and programs, and requests for policy changes. Determines whether proposals are acceptable for review. Schedules requests for review by appropriate university committees. Prepares and maintains accurate degree progress summaries for graduate or undergraduate students. Prepares credit summaries for work taken at USC and other domestic institutions. Updates the student record computer system and generates the requested documents or reports. Verifies student information as requested. Responds to questions from students and/or staff regarding established procedures governing one or more of the following areas: registration, course scheduling and availability, degree checks, transcripts, diplomas, academic status, and petitions. Responds to emails sent the Academic Services mailboxes. Counsels students on issues regarding transfer credit evaluations and degree requirements. Provides alternative solutions or directs students to the appropriate university unit for resolution. Prepares backup material and documentation for student petitions as needed. Assists with the preparation, dissemination, or updates of bulletins, newsletters, handbooks, guides, fact sheets, brochures, and online content related to academic services. Assists with the planning and administration of final exams. Assists with coordinating the scheduling of classes and final exams. Assists with processing grades. Assists with coverage of the department's reception area. Assists in the update of the department's policy and procedure manual. Trains student workers. Coordinates with Publications to ensure that all school actions are correctly recorded in the catalogue and schedule of classes. Conducts periodic course reviews so that the catalog reflects current curriculum. Ensures detailed records are maintained. Coordinates the organization, maintenance, storage and retrieval of records pertinent to curricula and policy. Stays current on ABA and school-wide standards, policies, procedures, and regulations pertaining to admissions, financial aid, registration, transfer credit evaluation, course and degree requirements, petitions, and other student services. Assists with the development and implementation of program policies and procedures Will assist with both final exam administration and proctoring at the end of the Fall and Spring semesters and commencement each year. Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. The university reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.

Requirements

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree
