Academic Intervention Fellows (AIFs) play an essential role in supporting DC Prep’s mission to help every student succeed academically and socially. Our AIFs work in tandem with General Educators and Special Educators to support the curriculum implementation and instructional delivery critical to the success of students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). As an AIF, you’ll support a student throughout his or her literacy and math classes in the general education setting as well as provide small group and one-on-one interventions based on assessment data. This role serves as an entryway into DC Prep’s special education pipeline and is designed to help novice educators develop into strong special educators. To support our pipeline of special educators, we offer AIFs the necessary professional development to acquire the knowledge, skills, and experience to become effective educators in urban school environments. Throughout the AIF program, you’ll benefit from frequent observations and coaching that will enable you to assume a teaching position with DC Prep.
