About The Position

The Academic Dean at Dakota County Technical College and Inver Hills Community College directs instructional management functions and applicable operational aspects of Liberal Arts, and other disciplines and programs. Responsibilities include: Lead, direct, and supervise the instructional functions of Liberal Arts, and other disciplines and programs. This includes promoting, enhancing and maintaining all functions and assignments, implementing policies and procedures that fulfill the philosophy, mission and goals of the college. Initiate, recruit, organize search process, interview and recommend to the Vice President of Academic Affairs and the College President the employment of new staff and provide ongoing leadership for all staff. Develop and submit annual budgets for the assigned divisions. Establish and maintain positive and effective communications necessary to the successful operation of the college. Provide leadership in college planning efforts. Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the department and maintain the reputation of the organization as a viable business partner.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree
  • Five years of experience in academic leadership, project leadership in higher education, and/or college level teaching.
  • Experience with quality improvement.
  • Experience with diverse populations.
  • Experience developing partnerships and building collaborative relationships.
  • Experience with accreditation processes.
  • Experience developing and managing budgets.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including group and public speaking

  • Doctorate in related field or in Educational Leadership
  • Experience with campus-wide learning assessment
  • Experience administering union contracts and other human resource functions
  • Experience with Learning Communities
  • Experience with Processes related to Program Accreditation
  • Knowledge of innovative programs and pedagogy designed to serve diverse, non-traditional, and adult students.
  • Knowledge of technical college organization, curriculum, goals, vision, fiscal regulations, and procedures.
