The coordinator promotes the vision and skill level for successful graduation at the secondary level and success with college matriculation and post-secondary completion. SUPERVISORY AUTHORITY: The Program Coordinator will supervise approximately 3-12 wage employees to include tutors, teachers, and counselors. NATURE AND SCOPE: The Program Coordinator is responsible for facilitating the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the various components of the Upward Bound Mathematics and Science (UBMS) program which falls under the TRIO Programs with the Department of Education. The UBMS program is designed to strengthen the math and science skills of participating students. The goal of the program is to help students recognize and develop their potential to excel in science, technology and mathematics to encourage them to pursue postsecondary degrees in STEM disciplines. The Upward Bound Math and Science program at Howard University serves 52 students from selected schools in DC and Prince George’s County in grades 9 through 12. TRIO Programs are located within the School of Education and the Program Coordinator for Upward Bound Mathematics and Science reports directly to the Director of the UBMS Program. This is a grant position that is fully funded until August 31,2027. The grant can be renewed for 5-year intervals at the conclusion of the current grant period.
